Don’t Mess with the Bull!

Tips are a little like the nose on our face as we all have one. We can all remember that our mothers admonished us to always wear clean underwear because we might be in a car wreck and some stranger would see our poor choice of panties. If I were in a car wreck, my panties would be the least of my worries and they would not be clean anyway. One of the best tips I have ever had is the “ageless” one of not frying bacon in the nude!
As a model there are certain things that are expected of us. Many people see us as being just a little too free with our bodies and not as the creative individuals we are. Models are great actors who must assume various character roles in the next shoot or assignment. We are not allowed to be ourselves very often as our job dictates that we follow the photographer’s directions in order to receive our paycheck. One of the things learned very early is that the photographer is always the boss and the tip of “not messing with the bull” applies in all shoots.
We must always take care of our body as that is the vehicle which transports us to the bank after any assignment. In reviewing the world of the model, we are confronted with the super thin anorexic individual. The Twiggie thing is still with us and is becoming more serious as we are urged to watch what we eat and when. Anorexia is not normal and should be treated as the disease that it is. At this writing, the models of England are being encouraged to stay thin, almost to the point of absurdity. What we can see in London is the catwalk of underweight women. Remaining within our weight range without being anorexic is possible and desirable.
Marios Schwab, the noted designer, reminds everyone that looking stylish involves knowing oneself. According to Schwab, we put too much emphasis on designers and not enough emphasis on what really matters which is what suits our body and makes us feel comfortable. It is a proven fact that what one sees on the catwalk is not what sells in the stores. Catherine Deneuve also knows what suits women and models are no different. “The way a woman moves and the way she handles her handbag is what makes a woman or a model sexy.” If we are comfortable in ourselves and with ourselves, we are sexy.
