Getting Ready for Casting Calls

You see it in the movies, but somehow it’s not quite like that in reality. You know that it’s an important part of modeling and one that you have to get used to, yet you still always find yourself a bit nervous. When it comes to modeling, you have to be prepared for all of the casting calls that you will go on. If you show any signs of insecurity or lack of confidence, you can pretty much kiss those chances goodbye. Though they can certainly be intimidating, especially at first within your career, you want to always be as prepared as possible. These offer the gateway to your modeling jobs, and therefore you need to learn how to do your best each and every time. So if you’ve struggled in the past or just want to learn to be more prepared, there are some important things to keep in mind each and every time you go on a casting call.
Dig In Before You Get There
In other words, do your homework. If you go into a casting call and aren’t really sure what they’re looking for, this is going to show through right away. Though you may only receive limited information for some casting calls, use whatever you get to your advantage. What every professional wants to see on a casting call is preparation. This will show through if you take the time to dig in and find out whatever information you can before you get there. If you come in unprepared or uninformed, this may very well rub the director or hiring professional the wrong way. They want to see that you care about this job and that you took the necessary time out of your schedule to fully prepare for it.
Dress the Part
Though you may have your own style on a daily basis, it may not bode well for certain casting calls. As part of your preparation, always take the time to understand how you should dress. Let’s face it—fashion and the way in which you portray yourself through it are just as important to your modeling career as your overall appearance. Don’t kid yourself—if you show up dressed in something completely unrelated and irrelevant, it’s not going to help your overall chances in the casting call. Dressing the part is a very important aspect of modeling, and it also shows that you’re prepared.
Go In With Confidence
That word is confidence, and that is not to be confused with cockiness. Be careful not to confuse the two because being cocky can cost you a job. Alternatively don’t let the pressure of a casting call get to you and cause you to come across as insecure, unpolished, or lacking confidence. This will show through right away so work on building up your confidence before you go into the casting call. No matter how big or how small the job is, always go into your casting call with the confidence that shows right away that you are the model for the job.
