In a world that is not only hard to break into but hard to keep up with, many may wonder how some models become famous. It seems to make no sense as it’s a very competitive world indeed, and therefore makes you wonder not only how a model gets famous but also how there are so many famous models. It seems like a logical thing to wonder, but yet you seem to see another famous model coming up the ranks each and every day. So what’s their secret? More importantly, how are there so many famous models in such a competitive industry?

First and foremost, it takes a bit of luck. It takes being in the right place at the right time and being “discovered” by a talent or an expert that is willing and able to take you places. It also requires a whole lot of dedication and hard work, often at the sacrifice of something else such as a personal life. This will pay off later on, but it’s important to note that those models that you see on the hottest magazine covers and TV shows started off somewhere and likely worked their butt off to get there. It also takes the right look and that seems to change up by the minute when it comes to modeling. Therefore famous models are able to be chameleons of sorts because they can transform themselves into whatever look the industry is calling for at that precise moment.

Beyond that, once a model starts to take off she needs to work herself in a variety of different ways. The famous models that everybody knows of and can easily recognize tend to have a fair amount of side ventures. This may not come until much later on in your career, but it is important to think through in advance. What else would you want to be involved in aside from modeling? This is an important question to ask yourself anyhow for that moment when modeling may be over for you. Not everybody is going to be a Heidi Klum, a Cindy Crawford, or a Gisele, but these also happen to be very hard working and business minded individuals. They are not only featured in runway and photo modeling, but have turned themselves into an entity all their own by getting involved in side ventures that can help to really take them places.

So how are there so many famous models? Part of it has to do with modeling being an accepted form of celebrity. Part of it has to do with the fact that famous models have a place in other areas of Hollywood such as hosting a TV show or starring in a movie if the acting skills are there. Part of it has to do with luck and much of it has to do with hard work. Not every model will be a famous one, but if this is an aspiration for you, then by all means put in the hard work and do what it takes to ensure that you are on the right path towards this.
