How To Get Higher Paying Modeling Jobs

Posted by Alexander Evdakov (Mar 2, 2010)

You may look to some of the "super models" in the industry and have a crazy desire to be like them. Recognizing that not everybody is going to get to "super model" status, there are some people that are lucky and talented enough to keep climbing higher within the modeling world. It happens, and you can be the model that gets the higher paying jobs. There are a few basic steps or considerations to keep in mind, but they are well worth it in the end. If you can be patient and diligent, you too can be making some great money and enjoying the wonderful world of modeling in no time at all.

Pay Your Dues and Recognize The Importance of This
Even the biggest model had to start somewhere. If you think that’s not the case, then think again. If you want to get to the higher paying modeling jobs, then you need to make it through your fair share of the jobs at the lower end of the spectrum. Not only does this exercise ensure that you pay your dues, but it also solidifies some excellent experience in the meantime. To get a higher paying job, it’s imperative that a model demonstrates depth and a wide array of different modeling experiences. So be the one that makes a difference and find a way to stand out with the experience you gain in the process!

Be Sure that You Have Good Representation
No matter how much experience you possess, it won’t mean a thing unless you also have good representation. To get to the next level, you need an experienced agent or rep that has your best interests at heart. They need to be keeping an eye out for the next big thing and figure out a way to make you fit into that big picture. That’s how you keep moving up in the modeling world, and how you ultimately land the big jobs. So if you have any ounce of hesitation on your current rep, be sure that you find one that is proven in their field and will work to get you to where you want to be.

Be Aggressive and Take Risks Sometimes
You may hear about a job that totally doesn’t sound like you, but how will you know if you don’t try for it? Does it mean that it will work out every time? No, but that one occurrence may very well be the exception and what launches your career. Take your career into your own hands and play an active role! While you must rely on your rep, you also must ensure that you don’t leave every little detail up to them. Be willing to do what it takes to get ahead and sometimes that means going out on a limb and taking chances and risks to get to the higher paying jobs. Incorporate this thinking and you are sure to be successful!
