Let’s Makeup!

Beauty is really skin deep, but how beautiful we women are. One of the things that a mother passes on to her daughter is the art of applying makeup, and there is an art to it. Makeup is not just smearing a covering on one’s face, slapping lipstick on the lips, and outlining the eyes. As mothers are responsible for the safety of their children, they are also responsible for teaching the young girls how to take care of their skin.
Girls need to concentrate on their complexion. Imperfections can be hidden with a little concealer. Pimples can be erased and blemishes can be disguised. We need to work on getting a nice velvety sheen to our face. The look needs to be natural and you must be able to makeup the same way every day of your life. One of the surprises that new husbands get is awakening the next day with someone who may not be familiar.
Always start makeup with a clean and moisturized skin. I doesn’t take long to realize that the makeup smoothes on and blends in when the face is clean and damp. A gentle cleanser is always needed in the morning and in the evening. Do not scrub or rub the facial skin as an infection could follow such abuse. Toner is also an important part of the process. Any moisturizer that we use should contain SPF greater than 15. As women we rate an at-home facial two or three times per week. Any exfoliates should be non-abrasive to preserve our beautiful face. Before sleeping we need to apply some type of facial mask, rinse it off and go to bed.
To achieve the flawless look, use a good foundation brush or sponge. Be sure to blend the makeup all the way to the natural hairline. Bring the foundation down the neckline for that seamless look and make sure that it is well blended. If we apply a concealer under our eyes, we can hide those ugly circles. Be careful with the concealer and don’t make it lumpy. Attention needs to be given to the foundation. Always start with less foundation and increase it until your attain the shade that is desired.
A light and even dusting of loose and non-compacted powder will give our face a natural look and will help with the blending that needs to be accomplished. When applying pressed powder, use a sponge or a different powder brush. If over thirty or if vanity requires it, avoid powdering under the eyes as powder will accentuate the lines you do not want people to see. Oil-blotting sheets must be in our purse or pack as they can be used without smearing what you have worked so hard putting on.
