There are many instances within a modeling career where your first impression counts for a lot. One area where it counts more than you can imagine is with your first meeting with a prospective modeling agency. Though many people have the common misconception that they just fall into the right modeling agency, this isn’t how it works at all. There is a whole process to finding the modeling agency that’s right for you, and for which you are a match. The key into your kingdom and the way in which you will be sure to find the modeling agency that works best is mastering that first and all important meeting.

Are you going to be nervous? Yes! You are lying to yourself or not taking things seriously enough if you think otherwise. Let’s be honest here—this is a time when you are putting yourself out there and essentially being judged by the very people who may represent you within the modeling world. If you’re not a little nervous, then you’re not necessarily taking it seriously enough. A little bit of nerves make you humble and a whole lot of confidence gives you the winning recipe for success. Go in with your head held high and know that your looks, your portfolio, and your experience are what will help you to land the right modeling agency.

You will be asked a series of questions, so be ready for them. Failing to answer the questions successfully or being unprepared can most certainly results in you getting a rejection. So practice before you go into that first meeting, because that level of hard work can and will always pay off. Perhaps go though some sample questions and even do a role play with a close friend or family member. The more prepared you are, the better your chances of ending up with the agency you’re interested in.

Modeling agencies are in the business of launching modeling careers. While this can present some excitement for you as a model, be aware that it can also come with its fair share of criticism along the way. Be prepared that in the first meeting they may point out any of your flaws, ask you to drop some weight, or tell you something that they don’t necessarily like about you. Don’t take this as a personal insult, and instead be ready for it and embrace it. This is the type of information that will get you to where you want to be. It will also help you to embrace constructive criticism - and if you do it well in that first meeting, you may very well be on your way to working with the agency that you want.
