There are many things within the world of modeling that are to be expected. You can expect that you will have to work hard to get great success. You can expect that there may be harsh criticism from time to time that may leave you feeling slightly wounded. You can expect that there is great competition amongst models to land that dream job that they’ve always wanted. You can also expect along with all of this that casting calls will be a part of your career that may very well never go away. This isn’t something that most models look forward to and is hardly ever something that they embrace. However casting calls are a necessary part of the process if you ever hope to land the work that you are after.
So you find out that there’s a casting call, now what? If you are a seasoned veteran, then you take the necessary steps to prepare yourself as you have learned through the years. No matter what phase you are at within your modeling career, it’s always wise to work at getting the upper hand in seeking out information. You want to find out if there is any inside scoop or insight that can help you to gain an advantage over the competition. Is there a certain look that they are after or something special that they want? If you have the right connections and are persistent enough, this is information that can really help you in landing the role.
You also want to consider what type of casting call it is. If you are working to impress those judging you at walking the runway, then practice your moves. If this involves a speaking or even an acting role, then by all means brush up. Be sure that you understand firsthand or from your modeling agency what type of casting call it is and what sorts of things it will involve. Then take this information and apply it to your preparation. This is an area where you really want to focus some concerted effort on preparing for your casting call. Practice your moves, your speech, and do whatever you can to get yourself in the right frame of mind for this big audition.
You want to dress the part and act the part as well. You want to show them that you are undoubtedly the person for the job. You want them to see that you can do this and that should shine through in your very first impression. If you can portray from the very beginning that you are the right choice for the job, then you will have a far better shot at landing the gig. Models just like any other type of professional have to really work at this. They are constantly forced to make a good first impression. This is never more important than in a casting call. So be sure that you take the time to prepare, put your best foot forward, and of course convey great confidence in each and every casting call that you go on.
